Hey everyone,
I hope you’re having a good day. Today, I wanted to talk about firming it.
Today was quite an interesting day. My brother had a football tournament, but I also had some work to do. I took this as an opportunity to get some exercise and decided to join him later on by bike. Turns out the scenic route was the best, though it was quite challenging. When I saw a decline, I took it as an opportunity to coast, but then approached a tight turn. Only when I started skidding did I realise that the turn was smaller than my turning radius, thanks to the rainy conditions (lol). So, I fell, but it’s not that deep! To be honest, I’ve been biking my whole life and I’ve only fallen a few times, two of which have been in wet conditions on a turn. This one was on a trail in a forest, so it’s a new learning experience (I learned from the first one on concrete). So yeah, it happens. It’s a bummer that my coat ripped and I got some bruises, but it’s all good.
I think this example can be applied to practically anything in life. Sometimes we make mistakes or get a bit unlucky (or both), and the best attitude to have is one that is constructive and positive. It could have gone worse, so be grateful. Another takeaway is learning from mistakes. You learn more from your mistakes than from theory and practice, so don’t be afraid to make them, and don’t take it negatively if you do. I was quite excited to go on this bike ride because it was the first time I got to go on a long journey solo, and I enjoyed the experience and the freedom. Nevertheless, I will advise everyone to take care around bends because you only know your bike tread is off contact when it’s too late, and do catch yourself, something I didn’t do for some reason. Guess I was in the moment.
Gratitude for every word read and every thought shared. Until next time!
Best wishes,
Ismail
P.S. Status check: one of my pedals is busted and my screen protector is cracked. Perks of living on the edge.
Hello Ismail !
Your reflection on the experience is spot on. Mistakes, mishaps, and the occasional wipeout are just part of the ride, whether it's on a bike or in life. I'm definitely taking notes: "Handle the bends with care and be ready when the ground decides to say hello." That's wisdom you can't buy.
But correct me if i'm wrong, but we did not get the recap of your Cambridge Open Day ?
Until next time !
